It is a self-contained subsystem providing a true three port isolation function. The inputs can range from voltages (uni or bi-directional), currents and J or K thermocouples. The output is galvanically isolated from the input utilizing transformer coupling. The output is presented as a current and voltage and can be used as simultaneously in most instances. The voltage output is buffered allowing it to drive signal cables over long distances. This allows the MA005X to be situated in the vicinity of the sensor and provide enough signal drive for remotely mounted data acquisition systems. The current output has a visual indication of open loop and compliance problems. The thermocouple input has visual indication of open loop conditions. There is a bandwidth selection jumper enabling 30Hz or 2KHz operation. The 30Hz option is recommended for slow changing noisy signals. The 2KHz option is recommended for isolating signals that require more bandwidth such as motor control applications. These features make the MA005X a truly universal isolation analog interface. The MA005X is an intelligent choice for accurately isolating and converting signals for data acquisition systems and programmable logic controllers.
